Do we agree on this? 10 things we should speak about in public... if you agree.
Maybe I’m too opinionated about some of these topics… so instead of me just creating a static list, I thought it was better to make visible how much agreement there is about 10 opinions.

Just wondering how to proceed on this. Joining forces and signing an agreement or using a batch to speak out could certainly work.
I was just curious… I think it’s an interesting list: 10 opinions about different things, and only translators replying. I can see from the replies so far, there are indeed ideas that we seems to agree on, but there are more opinions with less agreement than I expected. Well that’s my opinion so far 😉

Hi Gert, we should definitely speak about this in public! I recently was helping out my friend on a highly technical eng-rus translation project. The English source text was created by non-native English speakers, no TMs or terminology provided. We had to research a lot and had to call upon all our telepathic abilities to gamble upon what the source meant to say.. . And as usually, they wanted a high quality translation and they wanted it “yesterday”…

182 people replied so far, and I must admit that on a lot of opinions there is less agreement than I expected. What I learn from this: it is not OK to assume everybody agrees on most heard opinions. On some topics there is a part of the community in disagreement. Of course, this questionnaire is only scratching the surface and people will have good reasons for their opinion. Some of the questions were probably also too open to solicit more agreement.
I thank all those who replied. I will not close the questionnaire. Maybe others will want to share their opinion as well.
