Our favorite stories of 2016
Happy New Year, dear friends and colleagues! I hope you had a fun New Year’s Eve!
I know that many of us are still in celebration mode. And some are probably still on vacation (judging by the amount of Out of office replies I receive this time of the year).
For the first story of 2017 I decided to do something fun and share our favorite stories of 2016.
Last year our awesome authors published four hundred and ninety three stories.
Yep, that’s right, 493.
I’d like to thank each and every one of our authors for having the courage to share their knowledge, their opinions, their views.
Knowledge-sharing is what makes The Open Mic so special and I hope more translation bloggers will give The Open Mic a try in 2017.
For this post I hand-picked some of the most notable stories of 2016.

Without a doubt 2016 was a great year for our tiny community.
I wish there were more ways to feature all the stories because every single one of them deserves its place in the spotlight.
There’s something for everyone. Lot’s of advice for young translators. Great tips about revision and editing and the art of translation.
And, of course, a great deal of marketing and business advice, as well as some great discussions about translation technology.
My personal favorite throughout the entire year was a series of articles by Tanya Quintieri.

What’s next for The Open Mic in 2017?
A start of a new year is always a great time to get excited about the future.
The Open Mic will continue to be a blogging community for translators and interpreters from all over the globe.
As our community grows bigger and bigger every single day we’re constantly thinking of more ways to bring value to our community as well as to the people who might benefit from what our community can offer.
In 2017 we will be making The Open Mic accessible to clients which will bring our vision to life, changing the way people find professional translators online.
I’m extremely excited about The Open Mic’s future and I hope you’re just as excited as I am. 🙂
