Hello, my name is Erika and I’m a translator, with emphasis and experience in:
— literary translation(novels, tales, poetry, theatrical plays, lyrics, etc.)
— subtitling (documentary films, music videos, religious material, etc.)
— translation of business and legal documents (business letters, invoices, promotional materials, bid documents, financial statements, minutes, powers of attorney, agreements, contracts, memorandums, articles of association, etc.).
— translation and proofreading of academic papers and articles.
My preferred language pairs are Russian-Portuguese and English-Portuguese, but I can translate and have translated and/or proofread Russian-English and English-Portuguese as well.
Apart from being a translator, I’m graduated in Law, with a specialization in Brazilian Civil Procedural Law, and I have worked for 6 years in this field, mostly in governmental institutions, with the focus in Defense of the Environment. I am also a self-published writer and have received several prizes. These other activities give an account of my proficiency in the Portuguese language because both the fields require great knowledge of grammar, orthography, and lexicon.
I have maintained for about 6 years now a project of voluntary translation of Russian literature into Portuguese in this blog, focused mostly in poetry, because of its shortness, and because the Russian-Portuguese literary translation is my preferred area ever. If any Brazilian or Portuguese publisher gets interested in translating Russian literary works into my language, contact me right away.
Also voluntarily, I have translated hundreds of lyrics in the site Lyrics Translate, religious material, and subtitled music videos, preaching, documentary, humoristic videos from both English and Russian. And I have as well elaborated mini-courses of the Russian language to Portuguese native speakers in sites such as Memrise, and I have a project to write a handbook of Russian to Portuguese speakers.
My paid experience is better detailed in my CV.
Welcome to my profile, and I’ll be glad to hear from you, either if you are a client or a colleague translator, for networking.
