My biography and experience

My translations are read by undergraduate university students across the United States in the pages of _The Russia Reader_ (Duke University Press, 2010). I have also completed three years of German-language study at the University of Arizona. I worked extensively for over four years on the Russian 2014 Winter Olympics Project by translating a variety of documents, ranging from press releases and brochures to technical construction diagrams of the Olympic facilities. If you watched any of the English-language broadcasts of the Opening Ceremony on February 7, 2014, then you would have heard some of my translations of the speeches of officials as read by the TV commentators. I have also contributed translations of marketing materials that advance the business goals of major companies active in both Russia and Germany. For example, last fall I translated the annual report of a major Russia-based steel producer targeted at investors. I have also translated the conference participant biographies for an oil and gas conference that recently took place in St. Petersburg, Russia. Let me help you tackle your next translation or proofreading project. Using my cultural knowledge and academic training, I can help you avoid embarrassing mistranslations that can be hard to avoid when dealing with texts not just written in another language, but produced by a different culture. My home office computer equipment includes two laptop computers (a Mac and a PC, allowing me to run a variety of CAT software, including SDL Trados Studio 2014). I perform daily backups, and I have high-speed Internet access. With each freelance project I undertake, I guarantee high quality work delivered on or before the deadline and prompt responses to your phone calls and e-mails.
