My rates
I charge either per word, per hour or per project as a whole, depending on which is most appropriate for any given project. As no two jobs are the same, I take into account the type of work required, the length and complexity of the text, the format and the relevant timescales. This case-by-case approach ensures you get a fair price for your specific requirements.
My preferred currency is GBP, but I'm also happy to quote in EUR and USD.

My biography and experience
A native British English speaker, I have 15 years' experience in translating from French and German to English, and in editing, localising and proofreading English texts in print and digital format. I've had fiction and non-fiction translations published by Tektime, IFRI and Vitalis Verlag.

Seeking a publisher for my translation of 'The Water Mage - Book 1' by Aidan Fox, the first book in a young adult, steampunk fantasy trilogy. In this tale of magic, mystery and murder, we follow young hydromancer Naëli as she and her friend Jay excitedly enter a notoriously difficult vehicle race across land and sea. But Naëli's magic puts her in danger as competitors start to disappear in mysterious circumstances... Can anyone be trusted? (A complete translation is available, and you can hear me reading an excerpt on the Translators Aloud YouTube channel. All rights are available from the author).

Background
Based in the UK, I've also lived in France, Germany and Luxembourg. I graduated in modern languages from Oxford University, specialising in Kafka, E.T.A. Hoffmann, Rabelais, Molière and 18th-20th century novella. I qualified as a translator and interpreter at Bath University, and trained at the European Parliament and United Nations. I've also worked as a translator for the Financial Times and Amazon, and as an editor for Amazon, English Heritage and Historic England. I qualified as a proofreader with The Publishing Training Centre.
I especially love the fantasy/speculative fiction series 'Realm of the Elderlings' by Robin Hobb, the colours of autumn and the freshness of petrichor.
