Why I am joining the 1,000,000 Mile Challenge for translators and interpreters
Today I have just started the first round of the 1,000,000 Mile Challenge for translators and interpreters.
In January 2014, I was determined to lose some weight and guess what? I did it. YES, I lost 35 pounds in 4 months and this was one of my best achievements in 2014. My mind got clearer and felt like losing lots of stress in my daily life.
I used to practice walking, then running for 1 hour early. All I had to do was get up 1 hour early and do this. In the beginning, I did not know how long should I walk or run, or what is my track. Then I settled on walking in the fieldsJ. YES, I live in the countryside, 20 miles from busy Cairo. The picture of my daily walking track. I like to feel the fresh air and walk through the green plants.
One of the best parts also was making new friends. In my village people are not used to see someone walking or running early morning. Some people encouraged me and others said it is useless, but when they saw the results they believed this could work and I made friends from both sides.
In 2016, I have a similar resolution. That is why I am joining the 1 million miles challenge for translators and interpreters.
The challenge is suggested by Tanya Quintieri in here blog pot Have you heard of the 1,000,000 Miles Challenge?
This is a 1 year challenged for translators and interpreters to practice walking, running or biking for a year and the challenge is to have 1 million miles by 30th April 2017. You can join this too by signing up at www.1000000miles.com. Come and join the party!
Hey Sherif! I just want to say congrats on your achievement, I have gained quite a bit of weight over the past few years, so I’m definitely participating in this initiative. I normally try to walk at least a couple of kilometers a day, but sometimes it’s not possible. So I hope this will keep me motivated. 🙂
