My biography and experience

Hello, I am Anne Aruqaj, an Ivorian-born translator.  I moved to Canada (Ottawa) when I was 4 and returned  to Ivory Coast when I was 9. I then went to Morocco (Rabat) for 3 years, and Egypt (Cairo) for another 3 years. I came to Switzerland almost 10 years ago. More than a host country, this haven of peace has become a place I call home.

I have always been keen on languages, and I love the ones that form my linguistic combination. French is my mother tongue; English and Spanish have always been part of my life. I "got in touch with" English at an early stage of my life, while in Canada. Still, I didn't have formal classes until I entered high school. I haven't "left" English ever since. As for Spanish, I was fascinated by its sonorities and musicality even before mastering it. And... oh French, although very atonic, is such a noble, a beautiful and a poetic language.

I hardly imagine my life without speaking either language. I love being a polyglot and would sure like to learn many more!

I have known for a quite a long that I would embrace a linguistic career, and after several professional shifts, I finally want to take my translation career to the next level.
