Hi, I'm Juan and my story, while not otherworldly, is a relatively different one that has lead me down a path of turning something I took for granted all my life (language) into a passion and eventually, a living. I was born in Cuba's capital, where I lived out the first 7 years of my life. Afterward I moved to the United States where I lived for 19 years. There I acquired English and simultaneously maintained my Spanish. The latter was a feat made possible by the combination of living in Miami (where most of the population speaks Spanish) and only speaking the language at home with my family. A few years ago I moved to Poland, where I make a living teaching English and Spanish to locals and doing a bit of translation on the side. I use both languages on a daily basis, but unfortunately don't have much to show regarding translation experience. Officially, I have translated one full webpage from English to Spanish.

I am eager to work with the two languages and am open to all aspects in which to do so. I am aware that this is an experience game but I think anyone would be happy with my results.  

As far as preference of topics/material to work with are concerned, I have few. However, they don't limit my willingness to try, my professionalism, nor my curiosity. I simply like working with words. 

That said, it would be ideal if I got the chance to work with material that covered the topic of my other passions: animals, music, percussion, art, tattoos, psychology, sociology, and history.

Hola, soy Juan y mi historia, aunque nada de otro mundo, es una relativamente diferente que me ha llevado por un camino de convertir algo que toda mi vida daba por sentado (lenguage) en una pasión y, finalmente, una profesión. Nací en la capital de Cuba, donde viví los primeros 7 años de mi vida. Después me trasladé a los Estados Unidos donde viví durante 19 años. Allí adquirí inglés y mantuve simultáneamente mi español. Esta última fue una hazaña posible gracias a la combinación de vivir en Miami (donde la mayoría de la población habla español) y sólo hablar el idioma en casa con mi familia. Hace unos años me mudé a Polonia, donde me gano la vida enseñando inglés y español a locales y haciendo un poco de traducción al lado. Yo uso ambos idiomas a diario, pero por desgracia no tengo mucho que mostrar con respecto a la experiencia de traducción. Oficialmente, he traducido una página completa del inglés al español.

Estoy ansioso por trabajar con los dos idiomas y abierto a todos los aspectos en cómo hacerlo. Estoy consciente de que este es un juego de experiencia, pero creo que cualquiera estaría feliz con mis resultados.

En cuanto a la preferencia de temas / material para trabajar, tengo pocos. Sin embargo, no limitan mi disposición a probar, mi profesionalismo, ni mi curiosidad. Simplemente me gusta trabajar con palabras.

Habiendo dicho eso, sería ideal si tuviera la oportunidad de trabajar con material que abarcara el tema de mis otras pasiones: animales, música, percusión, arte, tatuajes, psicología, sociología e historia.
