The Top 15 Ways Freelancing Gives You Freedom Freelancing is the freedom to do what you love for the people who love what you do.

Greater than 1 minutes

Whether you call yourself an independent professional, freelancer, self-employed or contractor, we all have one thing in common: freedom.

Being your own boss means the freedom to do what you love for the people who love what you do.

The freedom to…

1. Determine your own values, quality standards and priorities

2. Be yourself

3. Be flexible with yourself and clients

4. Pursue work you love

5. Help others who share your values

6. Set your own schedule

7. Live the work life you want

8. Decide where you work

9. Make everyday ‘casual Friday’

10. Work on projects that allow you to expand and grow

11. Determine your fees

12. Work with clients and colleagues that respect and value you

13. Grow your skills and expand your creativity

14. Take care of yourself and enjoy your work and life

15. Be excellent at your profession and express your unique, creative and masterful skills fully

As you can see there is a lot to love about your freedom (I mean, profession).

Can you think of anything else that being your own boss gives you the freedom to do and be?

I would love to hear what you can add.

As always, thank you for reading and sharing my posts.

eLingual.Net’s mission is to spread happiness worldwide through happy translators, interpreters and clients.

For the professional translator and interpreter, this means no middleman, no job bidding, the freedom of setting their own fees, having control over their services, and who they choose to work with.

For the clients, this means working directly with ethical and professional translators and interpreters committed to quality and value.

Join our happy community, let’s work together!

  1. Great post, Carmen! Thanks a lot for sharing it here 🙂
What I love about freelancing is that I can just be… myself.
I don’t have to pretend to be someone I’m not. I can be honest and do and say things they way I want and not the way my boss wants me to do. Because I’m my own boss. And this is the most powerful thing about being a freelancer.

  2. Hi, Carmen, excellent post! I think points 6 and 7 are quite noteworthy. Sometimes we forget we are the ones who should be in charge of our business, both when things go great and when they don’t. I think being creative is or should be part of every freelancer’s marketing strategy. Charging the rates you deserve is part of making that strategy work not just for your clients but also for your benefit as a self-employed professional or entrepreuner. When the Open Mic is released, I’ll share your great straight-to-the-point and memorable article on what it means to be a freelancer on my Facebook page. Thank you!
