Less than 1 minute, my friend!
Which Keyboard Do You Use Mechanical, Membrane or Chiclet?
I use a Logitech MK220 wireless keyboard and it, from a translator’s point of view, could have been better.
While I have been musing since late to buy me a new keyboard which could reduce the stress on my fingers and provide a good tactile feedback while typing, I also have been trying to procrastinate on investing for a keyboard (despite no procrastination to buy pizzas) since after extensive research on keyboards, I found out that there are basically three types – the membrane, the chiclet and the mechanical.
The membrane and the chiclet are simply cousins. They use a rubber/silicone sheet beneath the keys to help them bounce back into position. But they are cheap and non-durable; at times also proving to be tasking on the fingers.
The mechanical on the other hand is a premium keyboard with dedicated spring-like switches for every key. I want to buy a mechanical keyboard. I know they are costly. Maybe $130~ but after reading feedback and opinions, I am convinced that every translator should use mechanical keyboards.
Nevertheless, I am curious to know what keyboard do you guys use? What are your suggestions? What would be the best keyboard model a translator should be using?
Thank you!
I can’t really share any advice on keyboards, I’m afraid. I’m a laptop kind of guy 🙂 (I know it’s not the best idea, but I like to be mobile when I work: move around the house, go to a park or cafe). But I’d like to see what other members can say/recommend.
I use Samsung Pleomax KM-C20 keyboard and it’s like a MacBook keyboard, only it’s a standalone PC-compatible device. Very comfy. Would easily recommend to anyone – from gamers to writers.

Hey, Sandrine! Something happened to your links. I don’t see them 🙂
Oh I just saw this now. I never intended to post a link oO
I probably touched a button when reading the article (one of the sharing buttons? I have no idea)
But I am 100% sure I have nothing to say about keyboards :p
Haha, it’s OK. It happens. 🙂
